Regional Peer Counselor Training

The Regional Peer Counselor training is a one-day, in-person training led by Michigan’s Regional Lactation Consultants. The focus is on reinforcement of information learned during the Peer Update, advancement of clinical skills, team building and resource sharing.

This training provides continuing education hours for Nurses and Certified Lactation Consultants. A Certificate of Attendance with educational hours will be provided for healthcare professionals who can self-report. If you have questions, please contact CEInfo@mphi.org.

Purpose, Objectives, and Disclosures coming soon

This training is for peer counselors and is one of the four required trainings per year. Even peers who have obtained advanced lactation credentials (LCE, CLS, IBC, IBCLC, etc.) are welcome and encouraged to attend, if they are still functioning in the peer role. Training content will be limited to Level 2 Scope of Practice.

There is no fee to register for this training.

If a peer is not available on the date of their region’s scheduled training, the peer may choose to register for another region’s training.

The deadline for registration is 1 week before your region’s scheduled training or the training that works best for a peer’s schedule.

All participants registering in advance will receive a Participant Reminder with the training details and location information. If you do not receive a confirmation email prior to the event, please contact MPHI at events@mphi.org.

The Cancellation Policy is available for you to read during the registration process under “Terms and Conditions” prior to submitting your registration.

Michigan WIC supports breast/chestfeeding babies and children as long as mutually desired. If allowed by local agency management, staff are welcome to bring their breast/chestfed infants 6 months or younger to this training. As needed, milk expression is welcome! There will also be a private pumping space reserved if preferred.
